Catch return & report from angler Simon Peters…

Great day at Wimbleball yesterday.
We had 15 fish to different tactics.
Started on Washing Line with 2 Diawl Bach’s and a Blob on the point. Went to the far end of Cowmoor. 3rd Cast the line locked and the fish came off 30 seconds later. Carried on at this same area and 3 more Rainbows and a nice Brownie were in the net within half an hour.  My Mate had forgotten his lunch so we motored back across to the Jetty, collected the lunch backing gently off the jetty my Orvis Helios caught the boat next door and snapped the rod clean in half!
Soon headed down to the Fizz where another 4 fish were in the net, all caught on Di7’s and lures. From there we headed very close in to the far bank casting right up to the grass. 3 good fish in quick succession including a couple of double hook ups on blobs and snakes one after the other but unfortunately both point fish got off. On the day the wind was difficult, we didn’t want to anchor and trying to drift just pushed us away from the bank.
We motored up and had a great drift along Valentines and a few more fish all taken mainly on black lures. The fish seem to be right in tight to the bank. At times you would cast right to the grass and let the fly almost follow the contour of the bank down.
Last hour was spent back on the sink tip fishing naturals but they didn’t want to know. My mate carried on with the lures and had 2 more fish.
All in all a fantastic day in a Beautiful part of the world. Thanks, Cant wait to get back there.
